FD Staff Voice

FD Staff Voice

The FD Staff Voice is a group of volunteer employee representatives from across the whole service.

They meet regularly to discuss ideas, questions and concerns raised by their colleagues.

It provides challenge on FD-related matters and University initiatives, instigates discussions that find solutions, and helps deliver those solutions.

A forum where staff can participate in the debates that shape their working experience, it encourages the service to work together as ‘One FD’.

How does it work?

Roles:

The group is made up of Staff Voice Ambassadors drawn from each service in the FD.

They:

  • Are the nominated staff members who take feedback from their colleagues to Staff Voice meetings
  • Attend meetings and participate in change initiatives and projects
  • Report back to their colleagues on the outcome of Staff Voice meetings
  • Are in role for 12 months

There are also be Staff Voice Champions to support the Ambassadors in gathering feedback from colleagues and reporting on Staff Voice activities. Champion attendance at meetings is not required unless covering absence, however Champions may attend meetings should they wish.

Each service has one ambassador and at least one champion. Larger services have several champions

Both roles are voluntary and unpaid but offer many opportunities for development.

There is also a Staff Voice Facilitator drawn from outside the FD.

Staff Voice updates

  • There’s now a seamless process in place to make sure any suggestions that you add to the suggestion boxes (see locations above) get to the right people (Staff Voice, HR, FD senior management, etc.).
  • We’re now able to provide an update of suggestions and their outcomes on the website. See above.
  • We’re providing in person updates at service roadshows and away days. If you’ve not seen us yet, get in touch with a Staff Voice rep if you’d like us to come along!
  • Staff Voice reps will be involved in reviewing the results of the University’s Pulse Survey, helping to improve things where we can.

Who are your Staff Voice representatives?
